Breast Lift
Breast tissue consists of sebaceous and milk glands and has no muscle. Sagging, softening and deformation of the breasts are the most common reasons for women to resort to breast aesthetic surgery.
Factors such as aging, gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, frequent fluctuations in weight, and wrong bra choice can cause the breasts to lose their perky appearance over time. Many women have breast lift aesthetic surgery due to such reasons as loosening of the breast skin, emptying and sagging of the breasts. Breast lift surgery is planned and applied individually. This allows to obtain a younger and perkier breast profile.
What is Breast Lift?
Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, is an aesthetic surgery procedure applied for the purpose of shaping and lifting the breasts by removing excess skin in the breast and tightening the tissues surrounding the breast contour.
How is Breast Lift Done?
The techniques applied in breast lift surgery performed under general anesthesia are similar to the techniques used in breast reduction and augmentation surgery. For women with mild breast sagging, a silicone prosthesis is placed under the breast to lift the breasts.
In patients with excessive sagging and loss of elasticity in the breast tissue, the breast tissue is intervened, excess skin is removed, and the nipple is relocated to where it should be by reshaping to give the breast structure a round shape. If the patient has tissue deficiency in the internal breast structure or if the breast tissue needs to be removed, a silicone prosthesis is placed to add volume to the breast.
Various techniques, especially lollipop and reverse T techniques, can be used in breast lift surgery. In the lollipop technique, the incision made around the nipple proceeds towards the inframammary fold. Excess tissue is removed through the opened incision. The lollipop incision technique is completed by moving the nipple to the ideal point, and is generally used in breasts with slight sagging.
When the sagging of the breast is intense, the reverse T method is used. In addition to the incision in the lollipop technique, another horizontal incision is made in the area under the breast. It is possible to collect the saggy appearance of the breast by removing excess breast tissue.
Post Breast Lift
Mild pain may be present after breast lift surgery. For patients with simultaneous prosthesis application, pain may occur in the breast tissue caused by arm movements. 3 days after the operation, the bandage surrounding the anterior breast wall is removed and the patient begins to use a sports bra.
Exercises and swimming activities that may involve intense arm workout should be avoided for 1 month after breast lift surgery. After the operation, it takes an average of 6 to 12 months for the breasts to take their final shape, for the loss of sensation to disappear and for the healing of incision marks. However, this process may vary from person to person depending on various factors.
