Nerve Compressions

Nerve compression is when pressure occurs on the nerves in the peripheral nervous system. These nerves belong to the nervous system that connects other parts of the body, such as the hands or feet, that are far from the central nervous system. Nerve compression often causes pain and neuropathy in the limbs. Nerve compression can affect different nerves in the upper or lower body area. Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common nerve compression type.

What are the symptoms of nerve compression?

Nerve compression is pain or numbness caused by compression of a nerve by tissue or bones. It can occur due to, too much load, vigorous physical activity, age-related tissue changes.

Symptoms of nerve compression may include:

1. Pain: A feeling of pain or numbness may be felt on the location of the compressed nerve.
2. Numbness: Numbness or sensations such as electric shocks may be felt on the location of the compressed nerve.
3. Weakness: Weakness or muscle control disorders may be observed at the location of the compressed nerve.
4. Dysfunction: Dysfunctions may occur at the location of the compressed nerve, resulting in difficulty in hand or foot movements.

Treatments may include:

1. Physical therapy: Physical therapy can be used to relieve pain or numbness at the compressed nerve location as well as to reduce muscle weakness.
2. Painkillers: Painkillers can be used to relieve the symptoms of nerve compression.
3. Fine needle therapy: Fine needle therapy can be used to relieve pain or numbness at the nerve compression location.
4. Surgery: Surgery is considered as a last resort for the treatment of nerve compression. Surgery aims to release the compressed nerve.
